Setting Up Address Verification (AVS) to Prevent E-Commerce Fraud

Setting Up New AVS Parameters

We recommend then selecting one of two main options – 50% address match, or 100% address match.

A 50% address match means that the card will be authorized if either the address or the zip code submitted for the transaction matches the cardholder information. If both match, the transaction will also run. A 100% address match means that both the address and the zip code need to match in order for the card to be authorized.

Set up a 100% Address Match
  1. Select option X – ‘Exact Match of Address and Zip Code’.
  2. Select option Y – ‘Match of Address and 5 Digit Zip Code’.
  3. Select option M – ‘Card Verification Value Matches’.

Click ‘Save Transaction Settings’.

Set up a 50% Address Match
  1. Select option A – ‘Address Matches, Zip Code does not Match’.
  2. Select option X – ‘Exact Match of Address and Zip Code’.
  3. Select option Z – ‘5 Digit Zip Code Matches, Address Does Not Match’.
  4. Select option W – ‘9 Digit Zip Code Matches, Address Does Not Match’.
  5. Select option Y – ‘Match of Address and 5 Digit Zip Code’.
  6. Select option M – ‘Card Verification Value Matches’.

Click ‘Save Transaction Settings’.
